Real Life Retirement

Travel Now, Travel Often

One of the saddest things people say when they are looking forward to retirement is:  "When I retire I'm going to travel."

Don't wait until you retire to travel--or do anything else, for that matter.  Who knows what tomorrow may bring.  It is far better and easier to travel when you are in your  fifties, than when you are in your sixties or seventies.

After decades of being a solo traveler around the world, that big Six-Oh birthday arrived and I finally decided to travel with a group and have now taken two Elderhostel vacations.

Elderhostel specializes in educational travel for people over age 50.  One vacation I took was a photography workshop in Phoenix, the other a weeklong adventure in Oregon with my granddaughter.  Both were great!  The number and variety of travel and educational experiences Elderhostel offers is astounding.  Their costs are reasonable.  Not cheap, but reasonable.

There are, of course, other companies that offer travel for retirees.  Whatever your choice, find the money and make some time for it now.   Don't wait until later.
