Travel Now, Travel Often
One of the saddest things people say when they are looking forward to retirement is: "When I retire I'm going to travel."
Do not wait until you retire to travel--or do anything else, for that matter. Who knows what tomorrow may bring. It is far better and easier to travel when you are in your fifties, than when you are in your sixties or seventies.
After decades of being a solo traveler around the world, that big Six-Oh birthday arrived and I finally decided to travel with a group and have now taken two Elderhostel (now called Road Scholars) vacations.|
Road Scholars specializes in educational travel for people over age 50. One vacation I took was a photography workshop in Phoenix, the other a weeklong adventure in Oregon with my granddaughter. Both were great! The number and variety of travel and educational experiences Road Scholars offers is astounding. Music festivals in Montreal, trips down the Mekong, photography vacations on the Amalfi coast and behind the scenes excursions at the Shakespeare festival in Ashland. |
